Bridging the Americas
We are entering an era when international collaborative research is key to major scientific advances. Through this multidisciplinary fellowship program coordinated by the University of Florida's Whitney and Seahorse Key Labs and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute's Bocas Del Toro and Galeta Labs, we aim to train students with with the skills, perspective, experience, and academic network necessary to meet the challenges facing society and the natural world and educate the public the importance of conserving marine ecosystems. This program focuses on tropical and sub-tropical coastal habitats where biodiversity is highest, human impacts are accelerating fastest, and the need to build research capacity is greatest.
